All you need to know about India's first electric superbike: The Ultraviolette F77 - Raiden D'souza

This is the Ultraviolette F77, Ultraviolette automotive is a Bangalore based startup working on two-wheelers and energy infrastructure. Ultraviolette is also backed by the TVS motors who acquire 25% stake in the company, It first started its operations in 2015 and ever since then after 4 years of hard work finally launched their first prototype ‘The Ultraviolette F77’ in November 2019.

So what makes this bike so special? The f77 is the first electric superbike in India. The design on this bike is unusual which makes it stand out, which is inspired by aviation and aerospace engineering. The bike accelerates from 0-100 in just 7.5 seconds and can reach the top speed of 147 kph. Although the company aligns the motorcycle in the 300cc range, but with the specs given it fits well with 200cc range along with the KTM Duke 200.

The unique aspect of this bike is its battery pack which can be charged manually and is portable as well. The battery pack is wisely divided into three packs for convenient charging, thus removing the whole fuss about installing a charger in the parking lot. With this technology, you can charge it at home as well. The average time for a full charge is 5 hours in a standard charger and 1.5 hours for a supercharger. The bike performance mainly depends on its software control which the company is working on to provide a better performance and which can be updated over time.

Now the main question arises is what is the price range going to be, According to Ultraviolette, the price will range from 3 -3.25 lakhs on road. The bike will initially roll out in Bengaluru and then looking forward to national expansion. It has the potential to grow but will be initially difficult due to a mass competitor market but surely has a promising future.
